Unusual Hot Chocolate Taste Test

Tis the season for family, fun and hot chocolate! My sister and I got together to bring you all three!

If you try these hot chocolate recipes and judge for yourself, I would love to hear which was your favorite!

Best of the Bunch!

Eggnog Hot Chocolate

  • Servings: 2

Combining the two best holiday drinks!


Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Eggnog
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • Whipped Cream and Sprinkles for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat whisking together until well combined.
  2. Once simmering, check to make sure the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and divide between two cups and top as desired.

  • For a thicker hot chocolate, half & half or heavy cream may be used instead of milk.
  • The drink is quite rich, but so creamy and delicious. Anyone who loves eggnog will love this and even if you don’t, it might surprise you!

Mexican Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Half & Half
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp Chocolate Syrup
  • 3 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • Whipped Cream and a Sprinkle of cayenne pepper for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. Bring the 3/4 cup of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Add in the milk and half & half.
  3. Add in the cocoa powder and chocolate syrup.
  4. Add in the cinnamon and chili powder.
  5. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  6. Top with your desired toppings.

Chai Spice White Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Whole Milk
  • 1 Cup Half & Half
  • 1 Cup While Chocolate Chips
  • 2 Tbsp Chai Spice Mix
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
  • Whipped Cream and Cinnamon stick for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat whisking together until well combined.
  2. Once simmering, check to make sure the chocolate chips are fully dissolved.
  3. Once ready to serve, ladle hot chocolate into serving mugs and top with whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!

Acquired Taste

Pumpkin Pie Hot Chocolate

Perfect Transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas!


Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon Sugar mix
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 12 oz White Chocolate Chips
  • 3 Cups Milk
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • Whipped Cream for topping (optional)

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, milk and heavy cream.
  2. Stir until ingredients are well mixed and heat on medium heat.
  3. Once ingredients start to boil, add in white chocolate chips.
  4. Stir until chocolate has melted.
  5. Pour into your favorite mugs, top with whipped cream.
