Our three year old been pretending to be a pirate lately and every scrap of paper she finds is a “map”. She and my husband have been using a metal detector to search for treasure and her play structure is often a “pirate ship”!
I love her imagination and creativity! One summer day my graphic designer husband went to work and created a real pirate map for her. It was a map of our actual backyard with creative additions. We took it all the way, aging and weathering the map.
We then hid a special treasure at the X location and set her lose. She was so excited! The squeals of joy made it more than worth the effort!
This was such a fun and adventurous activity! What a great way to get outside and explore!
I love this! What a great idea.
