I am the first to admit that I am no beauty guru but like many others, the 2020 pandemic lockdown removed my addiction of hiding behind makeup and gave me a better appreciation for my own natural skin. Between face masks and working from home I stopped putting on makeup at all. I knew the makeup I religiously wore everyday wasn’t great for my skin but I never really thought about how I only needed to wear it to hide the imperfections caused by it…
Throughout 2020 and my new permanent habit is not to hide my skin but care for it instead. I am still trying new things and discovering what works best for me but here are some of the products I’ve tried and really enjoyed!
*Please note this blog is not sponsored by any of these products, this is just my personal opinion.*
The first treasure I found is the Global Beauty Care Charcoal mask. It’s a wash off mud mask and I like to use it while in a nice hot bath. The combination of the mask and the steam really helps unclog my pores. My daughter did say it made me look like a monster though…
Next is the Pink Clay peal off mask by Unmasque Beauty. It makes my skin feel so fresh and revised. Plus there is just something weirdly enjoyable about the way it feels to peal the mask off your skin…. Just me? ok…

Now I enjoy trying new products but when it comes to the daily staples I have trusted for years, it has to be Aveeno. I have very sensitive skin and Aveeno is the first brand that I’ve used that gives me quality care without any negative reactions. I use the daily face moisturizer every morning, the foaming cleanser every night and the body lotion when I get out of the shower.

I am in my early 30’s and while I’m not worried about wrinkles, in fact I plan to embrace that natural signs of aging. I’m still trying to make sure my skin is healthy and happy. I started trying night creams and honestly didn’t care for most of the ones I tried. I’m also not willing to pay $100 for a 1oz jar of “magic goo”. The product I found I like the best is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost. It’s not greasy or thick feeling and my skin just sucks it up. The smell isn’t my favorite but it isn’t strong and it doesn’t linger. If you are looking to ease yourself into a night cream routine, this is my recomendation.

The Cuccio Cuticle Oil is a product my entire family started using this winter. The cold dry air had our cuticles in bad shape and we needed something fast! This cuticle oil definitely worked after about a week of consistent use. My husband and daughter even enjoyed using it. It’s messy and oily of course but it does smell divine!

Last but not least is the only product I use on my lips. Burt’s Bees lip balm is my all time favorite Chapstick. It feels nice, works well and doesn’t have a strong smell. I have one of these tubes in every room of my house, in my car and in my desk at work (even through I don’t go there anymore…). This is a product I could not live without!

Through this new routine of caring for instead of covering up my skin, I have found a new love for my own natural skin. I no longer feel the need to wear makeup when I leave the house and my skin is healthier and happier for it.
