Quick DIY Garden Boxes

In the space between our two back doors is a plain blank wall. It’s a boring looking wall and the only unused space on our back patio area. After some pondering I decided I wanted to make it an herb garden. The materials were scrounged from left over wood from our Catio project and the planter boxes and movable hooks bought from the grocery store.

We wanted to be able to remove the planter boxes in the winter or plant seedlings in doors before the weather gets warm enough for them to be outside. To do this we built a frame attached firmly to the wall of the house. Then added “shelving” slots to hang planter hooks on. It’s really as simple as that! It’s beautiful, conveniently located outside the door of my kitchen for cooking and took only a few hours to build.

In these boxes I planted:

  • Basil
  • Lemon Balm
  • Chives
  • Sage
  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Cilantro

I look forward to utilizing these herbs in my cooking in the coming months!
