December 26th-27th we made a trip to my grandparents house in Dufer Oregon. Even if you are from Oregon you may not know where that is. Dufer is a cute little country town south of The Dalles. I love taking scenery photos so I will let you see our journey rather than read it. I hope you enjoy the views as much as we did!
Our trip started at 6am with dropping the puppy off at my Mom’s since we couldn’t take him with us this time. 😦
We chose to tempt fate and travel over Mount Hood in order to see some snow and test out the capabilities of my husband’s new truck (Ok that was his motivation). When we got to the top of the mountain we found that the road we needed was closed due to snow so we had to continue the long way around but it was worth it for the views if nothing else.
When Dufer came into view the rolling hills and view of Mount Hood had us fantasizing about making a life style change and moving here! We won’t be moving but it was tempting!
I’m not going to share photos of the family dinner for privacy reasons but that night we hopped in the truck with the grandparents and searched out some Christmas lights!
We woke up to an inch and a half of snow! A blanket of snow makes this town even more charming, I must say!
We decided to head home through the Columbia Gorge and get a complete best of both worlds scenery experience!
It was a fantastic adventure! I’m so glad I get to share our trips with all of you! Right now (on the west coast) we are 3 1/2 hours from 2016! I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year celebration! In 2016 you can look forward to more, new and exciting posts from Fortner Thoughts! I can’t wait to see what next year has in store!
Let me know if you like these kinds of posts and what other kinds of posts you would like to see!
